How to Support NCTC or A Students

In order to have a high standard, teaching material was sought from many organisations in different parts around the world. Requests were made from the NCTC for sponsorship of material.

The response was amazing, and permission was given from some of the Christian world’s best writers and organisations. Les and Pilar Norman of World Christian Organisation in England provided an 85 lesson Diploma of Biblical Studies course, which is used each week at the night class.

Day school materials came from PNG - Theological Education by Extension – TEE and On-line Bible School run by David Collins from Australia. Writers of high quality study material also gave permission to reproduce their study manuals, e.g. Kevin Conner of Australia, Richard Holland of Australia, Dick Iverson of USA and Tabor College from Australia.

If this material had to be purchased the cost would be enormous, but through the love of our brothers and sisters from around the world it was provided free of charge to the NCTC.

NCTC Classes Began – June 1st 1999

The first Block of a three year course commenced, running from June 1st 1999 until November 1st 1999. The first intake of students were enrolled; 12 in the day classes, and 43 in the night classes.

These students came from different ethnic groups and denominations, and places from the North of Fiji. Also one student enrolled from Western Samoa. The standard of the students who enrolled was very high. Tables for the students were needed. A local bank had just been taken over by a company, so a lot of counters were replaced. Our principal asked for the old materials. Then a young man helped her build trestles out of the old timber.

The evening class kept growing beyond all expectations. It was clear more tables were needed. Of course there was no money to buy materials! A miracle took place. The same bank was then taken over by yet another company in a few short weeks. So once again a request was made by the principal for similar materials and more tables were made. Once again testimony was given to the mighty provision of God.

Classes Begin at Bethesda Christian Fellowship

As the Vunika site was not yet developed a venue was needed to hold classes. Pastor David Prasad – Senior Pastor of Bethesda Christian Fellowship - very graciously gave NCTC use of their building which is situated right in the heart of Labasa township above the FNPF building.

The students not only had an interesting variety of Biblical subjects to study, but they were also taught practical skills, such as coconut soap making, small scale furniture making, toy making and woodwork with limited tools. Our principal visited joinery shops and asked for leftover pieces of timber and materials. Hardware shops were also targeted for paint, nails and other special items. Each time there was an incredible anointing evident as so-called hardened businessmen began to give.

Agriculture was also taught in the form of planting and growing cassava, Kumala[sweet potato], and various fruit trees. Lecturers were not only locals, but God soverenly brought them from around Fiji and internationally from such places as the Solomon Islands, Australia, New Zealand, India, Africa, America and Canada. The subjects taught were interesting and diverse.

The Lecturers came from many different denominational backgrounds and cultures. God had sent them to enhance the curriculum. It is worth noting that they all came at different times.

God works marvellously!
