How to Support NCTC or A Students

February 2005

Bula to you all,

Well, almost two months of 2005 have gone already – how times flies.

What an amazing, busy yet fruitful year 2004 was at NCTC. Last year God blessed us with approx $100,000 FJD worth of goods, building and equipment; as well as two more staff families which were added to the NCTC team, one from NZ and one from Australia.

Development for 2004: Stone Ministry Bungalow, 15,500 gal water tank, bore hole, coconut agricultural shed/soap lab and our Hong Kong container, which arrived into Suva free of charge, with no shipping costs or cartage. The only cost to us was cartage from the wharf on Vanua Levu to the NCTC site in Labasa. In the end, we also purchased the container, at a bargain price, which gives us storage and saved us the headache and cost of returning the container to Hong Kong. ..What an amazing miracle this was. And then, when we looked inside the container - what a haul for us!! We were also able to coordinate the acquire two new motor bikes for two very worthy pastors, one in Labasa and one on Rabi Island.

Seven NCTC students visited Australia for further training. After much negotiating with the Australian High Commission in Suva and much fund raising by the students. Seven NCTC students went to Australia for three months further study. They were stationed at my home church – Creek St Christian Fellowship in Bendigo Australia, The church there coordinated the three month Summer Bible School Course using teachings and resources by Dr. Christian Harfouche from International Miracle Institute as well as a variety of practical lessons in such things as, cake decorating, woodturning, dressmaking, jewellery making, cooking and computer skills. They also visited a dairy farm, cherry farm, towns and tourist attractions in the area and attended the Commonwealth Youth Games and “Planet Shakers Youth Conference” in Melbourne. While in Melbourne they were treated to much sightseeing and exposure to the Australian way of life. This experience has been life changing for the students. They have seen a much bigger world - than that beyond Labasa. This is a major miracle for these students(in view of the high rate of over stayers in Australia from Fiji) - to be allowed to travel overseas for such a long period of time, especially as they are all single and unemployed. But for God!

What an awesome story NCTC is - from nothing to where we are today. When I think back to how we began, with not a cent in our pocket - God has moved mountains to get the job done, despite political upheavals (2000 coup), economic down turn, lack of interest for the people of the North of Fiji, etc…. yet despite all the negatives there was God, and all glory goes to this awesome God who is able to do anything.

NCTC is debt free, we are just enjoying hanging around with Him, watching Him do His stuff.

In this year of 2005, we will see NCTC come up a level. Firstly we are now totally dependent on God as the costs of running NCTC are far beyond what is seemingly available in the natural. We receive no help from government or other agencies. We would ask people to prayerfully ask God if they should be become a partner of NCTC on a monthly basis or sponsor or partly sponsor a student. At the moment I am inundated with applications from many great potential students wanting to come and be trained, it is heart breaking to have to stay no to them when you know what a great impact NCTC has made on others and what it could do for their lives and their future.

We have an urgent need for bungalows.

Chuck (our site manager) has come up with a very innovative design for bungalows to house our students. These bungalows are made the same way as we make our water tanks, only oval shaped instead of round. These bungalows would house up to 16 students. For just $11,000 FJD we could build one of these amazing bungalows. As soon as funds become available we will start this project. If you would like to give us a donation towards this project we sure would love to hear from you.

URGENT NEED – Tank Bungalow:

Cost

Australian $8,202.00

NZ $9,413.00

USA $7,000.00
Canadian $8,202.00

Fijian $11,000.00

We continually get feed back on some of the things our ex NCTC students are doing and the way they in turn are changing lives around them, and I would like to share this with you. . In a short few years, we at NCTC have seen many of our ex-students leave us with their lives changed.

Jason - An ex-drug addict is now clean and working in a full time job and is a very active member of his local church.

Peter and Lucy both ex NCTC students are now married and pasturing a New Life Church at Bulilaka - Labasa. Peter, before coming to study at NCTC, was a street boy on the streets of Suva. Peter and Lucy have a very cute little girl. They also have the responsibility of looking after Lucy’s younger siblings. (Lucy’s parents are both deceased).

Vikashni, before coming to study at NCTC was a destitute girl from a very poor family. She is now a supervisor in a garment factory in Labasa

…….. the stories goes on ..

NCTC is well known for building self confidence and self worth in our students. Koko who after training at NCTC for three year is now the NCTC craft lecturer, and trainee Biblical lecturer, as well he is about to embark on establishing his own jewellery business.

NCTC gives both spiritual training and practical training. Practical training includes Appropriate Technology, crafts, mechanical appreciation, building construction . Our courses are designed to impart knowledge and skills at a grassroots level.
