Hurricane Aim 2003- Newsletter

Bula to you all,
Just wanted to once again thank you all for your donations to the people of Northern Fiji. You will never know how much of a blessing you all have been to so many. The people have seen the love of God in action, from people they do not even know, and the whole town is talking about it - a great witness to many in the area.

On behalf of all the pastors, and people of the North we would just like to thank you all so much. Not only for the money you have sent but for the prayers and support you have given to us all. We know it has only been prayer that has enabled us all to do the many things we have had to do, most of us on very little sleep as well. Just knowing people so far away care has brought much inspiration and hope to many. Not to mention the fact that a lot of people have been fed and now have shelter.

Just want to share with you some amazing stories that have happened since the rebuilding program has been going on in the Naleba area. As the building program continues, I am sure many more stories will be told from other areas also.

Some of the amazing stories to come out since hurricane Ami hit in the Naleba Area:
Sunday Meeting at Naleba New Life Church on the 26th of Jan 2003 - Just after Hurricane Ami Devastated the North of Fiji (the first area to start the building program)

The presence of the Lord was very strong and much was said and preached in the meeting about God's power to do anything, how we would raise the dead and even see people healed of cancer and how God is moving and using any one who is available for Him to use, whether we have an education or no education..... A prophetic word came out in the preaching that God was going to use this church to bring about many healings and even people with cancer will come into this church and God is going to heal many many people, and just very ordinary people - like cane cutters and people on social welfare - God is going to raise up in a mighty way. He is going to use them to do the most amazing things for Him.

As the people have seen money come in for the building of the houses and for food, it has really increased their faith and confidence in God, and through what you all have done, we have seen the love of God in action. Instead of what would normally be a hopeless situation, God had turned it into a situation of hope and expectation amongst His people.

Meet Satish Lal, and his wife Kamlesh, they have 3 sons.
Satish had been crippled for many years and he and his family have been on social welfare (believe me you have to be really really hard up before Fiji will pay you social welfare). Satish who could not walk, but was crippled, came forward for prayer on that Sunday. This last week he has helped the men in building his house, and last Sunday walked quite a long way to church, unaided. God has totally healed this man. All his family, friends and church at Naleba are rejoicing over the great things the Lord has done. Personally I believe seeing God provide this family a new house has really let him know he is not forgotten and God loves him and cares for him and his family, and through it, has generated faith in his heart. God healed him. YES !!!!!!!!

All that was left of their house after Ami

While the sermon was going on that Sunday, a lady across the cane field about 1/2 a mile away, a Fijian Methodist lady came with a young boy. He had been staying in her house,. He had been brought there for prayer, so for two days they had all been having a prayer meeting to pray and fast for the healing of this boy (around 12-13 years of age and the only child in his family). The doctors said he was dying. While they all are praying the lady said, she just felt the Holy Spirit telling her to take the boy and start walking, (a crazy thing in the natural seeing it had been raining and the boy was very sick, so she started to walk, and just kept walking, then she heard the word, MIRACLE coming from the Naleba church.

As the preaching was going on, and knowing that is where God is telling her to go, so she came into the church just when the last person who responded to the alter call was been prayed for. She asked if the boy could be prayed for. All the people in the congregation where shocked to see her - a Fijian in the Indian church, and when she said his boy has blood cancer and the doctors can no longer help him, the people remembered the prophetic word that had just been spoken about in the church, "even the people with cancer will come to this church and receive healing at the hands of simple people that God is going to use". All the people in the congregation who had faith were then asked to come and pray for the boy. They all came and prayed as if he was their own. Today I met the Fijian lady who told me the boy had given his heart to the Lord and was taken to the doctors after he had been prayed for and the doctors said "He was totally healed and their is no cancer in his blood" GLORY BE TO GOD !!!!!!!

Meet David Magal and his wife Sheila, they have 3 children, one who is seriously crippled, as can be seen in this photo.

The building team will soon be starting to build their new house. Sheila has attended Naleba church for 3 years and faithfully prayed for her husband who came from a very strong Catholic family to receive the Lord and accompany her to church. David allowed his wife to attend the church but never came himself. He was so touched by the fact that even though he was not a church member he would still be given a new house, he was so touched he came to church that Sunday for the very first time. In the meeting as the altar call was made he came out the front for prayer and was really touched by God. A new man walked home with his very happy wife Sheila that Sunday, Praising God.

A Story from Siberia Area:
Ps. Koko Sighn meet a Hindu man who had his house devastated by Hurricane Ami. He had gone to the Redcross and the Government offices, and any where he could for help. No help was given. When he saw Ps. Robinson and others in the Siberia church beginning to help the people near by, (a house was now being re-built after being so badly blown apart, food was given to the people), the man was really touched by it all. He spoke to Koko and said (with tears in his eyes) "See no one could help me with my problem, yet I have seen now your God is real, He is different from our gods. From now on you will see my face in your church, not because I want something from you, but just because I can see your God is real by what your people are doing". We are expecting for him to say the next time he talks, not Your God, but My God. Praise God for the witness of all that has been happening. By their fruits you will know them.
God Bless you All. Marion
